RusHydro’s Kamskaya hydropower plant’s capacity uprated by 14% after modernization
PJSC RusHydro (ticker symbol: MOEX, LSE: HYDR; OTCQX: RSHYY) completed the rehabilitation and modernization of Kamskaya HPP hydropower equipment as part of RusHydro’s comprehensive hydropower modernization program. As a result, capacity of each of the plant’s 23 hydropower units increased from 21 to 24 MW, leading to increase of the plant’s overall nameplate capacity from 483 to 552 MW.
In addition to modernization of hydropower equipment, the modernization program provides for replacement of hydro-mechanical hardware (such as spill gates, turbine gates, protection grids). This part of the program is now 80% complete. Altogether, RusHydro plans to replace 24 sets of hydro-mechanical equipment – one for each segment of the water-spill dam.

Modernization of the plant will enable to increase reliability and safety of equipment, minimize environmental risks, increase output during flood periods and substantially reduce cost of maintenance and repairs.
*Comprehensive modernization program of RusHydro's generation fleet for 2012-2020 with the outlook for 2025 provides for replacement of 55% of turbines, 42% of generators, 61% of transformers. This modernization will result in significant reliability, efficiency and security improvement of RusHydro generating facilities, increase in installed capacity of 779 MW as compared to the beginning of 2011. Expected growth of electricity generation will amount to 1375.6 GW.
