RAO ES of East and General Electric sign protocol on cooperation for expansion of Vladivostokskaya heat and power plant

JSC Energy Systems of East (RusHydro Group) and GE Rus LLC and Russian Gas Turbines LLC (General Electric group) have signed a protocol of intent in regard of installation of six 6FA type gas turbines at Vladivostokskaya combined heat and power plant (CHPP) no. 2.

The document was signed at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum by Evgeny Dod, BoD Chairman, RAO Energy System of East, CEO of RusHydro and Ronald Polett, CEO of GE Rus, who also represents Russian Gas Turbines LLC.

In addition to cooperation in the framework of Vladivostockskaya CHPP-2 expansion, the parties agreed to assess prospects of modernization of other facilities of RAO ES of East on basis of GE equipment. The Protocol also stipulates the need to establish a service network for gas turbines maintenance.

“A large-scale industrial and logistics cluster is being formed in the South of Maritime Region and our task is to match this point of growth with the necessary infrastructure. The new capacity is needed already now and I’m sure that the signed Protocol will enable us to deal with the tasks in the region in a more efficient way,” – said Evgeny Dod, BoD Chairman, RAO Energy System of East, CEO of RusHydro.

“We welcome the GE interest in the region. Beginning with 2018 we will decommission approximately 200 MW and the new equipment is needed to prevent shortage of capacity”, said Sergei Tolstoguzov, CEO of Energy System of the East.

“We are pleased to participate in modernization of power facilities of Primorskiy krai, which will improve the industry of the whole region. Our cooperation will help to manage rising energy demand of local enterprises”, said Ron Pollett, President and CEO of GE in Russia and CIS.
