Ecological Trails

Since 2012 RusHydro together with nature reserves has been equipping ecological trails and improving ecological recreation areas. The project helps to preserve biodiversity and the natural habitat of rare and endangered animal and plant species, and promotes caring attitude toward the environment.

Ecological trails are usually located near areas popular for tourism and recreation, which helps to direct the main flow of vacationers along a certain route. Along the entire length of the trail there are posters with information about the flora and fauna of the area. Recreation sites are equipped along the ecological trails of considerable length or with a complicated route. As a rule, these rest spots are set up in the most picturesque places with panoramic views.

Excursions, hikes, open lessons for students and schoolchildren, environmental festivals for the institutions sponsored by the Company and the general public are regularly held on all ecological trails equipped with the support of RusHydro. To date 33 ecological paths and three ecological zones have been equipped in 22 SPNAs in Russia.
